BSP already in poll preparedness: Mayawati

LUCKNOW, Apr 17:
Stating the country was going through a phase of political uncertainty, BSP president Mayawati today said her party was well prepared to go for the Lok Sabha polls which could be held ahead of its schedule.
‘ The early Lok Sabha polls are on the cards but be it early or ahead of schedule, Bahujan Samaj Party is already prepared for polls,’ she said while addressing party’s office bearers, MPs and MLAs at a meeting here.
Expressing satisfaction over the organisational activities, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said she would review the activities in the month end and assign jobs in view of the Lok Sabha elections. A special drive in order to broaden party base in the state and elsewhere would be launched from May 1, she said.
Ms Mayawati directed party workers and announced candidates to spend as much time as possible in the constituencies and try to strike rapport with people. Work in this direction has so far been done with right amount of sincerity and seriousness,’ she said, praising the efforts of her partymen.
The BSP supremo said people of the country were fed up with the inflation, corruption and unemployment and totally disenchanted with the performance of United Progressive Alliance(UPA) government. “Such situation points towards an early Lok Sabha polls in the country,” she said.
Coming down heavily on the Akhilesh-led Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh, the former state chief minister termed it as a ‘total’ failure. The law and order in the state was at its lowest ebb and the development work had taken a back seat, she added.
The BSP leader said all sections of the society were aggrieved under SP regime which had been running the government for its ‘pleasure’ rather than taking care of the public welfare. “The people of the state is definitely going to teach SP a lesson in the coming polls as this was already being discussed in the political circles,” she stated.
Exhorting the partymen to dedicate themselves in the party activities and help the BSP getting highest-ever number of Lok Sabha seats in next general elections, she also urged the BSP workers to try and connect with the people of all sections and castes in party’s endeavour to achieve the goal of Lok Sabha polls.
The BSP supremo also reminded the partymen that their efforts for the next polls would decide the future political course of the country as UP always had played a major role in the nation’s politics. (UNI)
