92-year-old bedridden doctor walks again after successful hip replacement at Fortis Amritsar

JAMMU, May 23: After two months of being bedridden, a 92-year-old doctor finally stood on its feet and walked again after a successful hip replacement surgery was performed upon him at Fortis Hospital, Amritsar.
The nonagenarian doctor had suffered hip fracture and since then he was bedridden. He consulted several joint replacement surgeons in renowned hospital across India but as the surgery was risky, nobody dared to perform any procedure on him.
Finally, he visited Fortis Hospital, Amritsar on someone’s recommendation, where doctors decided to perform hip-replacement surgery on him despite high risk. The surgery was performed under the supervision of Dr Mohit Arora, Additional Director Orthopaedics, Fortis Hospital Amritsar.
The patient was made to walk the very next day of the surgery and after few days of post recovery observation, he walked back home.
Commenting on the procedure, Dr Mohit Arora said that it was a very risk procedure due to age complications of the patients but such challenging procedures are performed routinely at Fortis Amritsar, which is a tertiary centre with all facilities.
