JAMMU, Mar 29: The 90th Annual function of Banasthali Vidyapith was held today in Tonk district of Rajasthan, wherein the Vice-President of Arvind Ltd, Punit Lalbhai, was the chief guest.
President of Banasthali Vidyapith, Prof Siddharth Shastri, the Vice President Prof Jyoti Pareek, the Vice Chancellor Prof Ina Aditya Shastri, the Director of Centre for Artificial Intelligence Prof. Anshuman Shastri and the Treasurer Prof. Sudha Shastri received the chief guest.
The Vice Chancellor introducing the chief guest to the audience said that Lalbhai is the Executive Director of Arvind Limited and leads Arvind’s Advanced Materials, Engineering, and Agribusinesses. He also spearheads initiatives in sustainability, CSR, and Innovation at Arvind Ltd.
She further said that Banasthali is a unique institution which today stands as one of the world’s largest fully residential women’s universities having more than 18000 students on its 850-acre campus and offers a variety of programmes from nursery up to doctoral level across a wide spectrum of disciplines. She said Vidyapith has been credited with the highest possible grade A++ by NAAC. In the THE WEEK-HANSA Research Survey 2025, Banasthali secured 2nd rank among Private & Deemed Multidisciplinary Universities in India and 1st in the North Zone, she added.
The VC also projected the achievements of the Vidyapith and its future vision. She accentuated significant student achievements at the national and university level. She added that Banasthali has given many first to the nation like first woman fighter pilot to fly a fighter jet solo, Sqd Ldr. Avani Chaturvedi, recently the first woman fighter pilot in Indian Navy, Astha Poonia.
The chief guest in his address expressed admiration for the institution, noting its unique integration of women’s education, strong values, Indian culture and ethos, advanced infrastructure and world class sports facilities. He appreciated the university’s noble mission of educating young women through the unique educational philosophy of Panchmukhi Shiksha.
He expressed gratitude to the founding fathers of the Vidyapith and the Shastri family whose visions have continued to guide the institution for over 9 decades.
Prof Siddharth Shastri in his address emphasized the mantra of efficient leadership. He said a good leader is one who can take right decision and can execute it.
