UDHAMPUR, Nov 16: Police seized 82 Kg poppy straw (Bhukki), which was being smuggled from Kashmir in a truck, here today at Kud and also arrested two accused in this connection.
The truck, bearing registration number PB08R-9348, was intercepted during a surprise naka on the National Highway near Kud. During thorough search of the said truck, 82 kg poppy straw was recovered.
Whole of the consignment as well as the truck were seized on the spot while the truck driver and his accomplice, identified as Manjeet Singh son of Darshan Singh and Sukhjeet Singh son of Dilbagh Singh, both residents of Chandoli in Garh Shanker, Hoshiarpur Punjab, were arrested.
A case under FIR No 88/2016 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Kud and further investigation of the case is going on.
