800 pay obeisance at holy cave

JAMMU, Aug 19: Eight hundred two yatris paid obeisance at holy cave of Swami Amarnath on the 53rd day of darshan today from twin tracks of Baltal and Nunwan -Pahalgam.
According to an Officer on yatra duty, 802 pilgrims paid obeisance to Ice Lingam of Lord Shiva in the holy cave of Swami Amarnath situated at an altitude of 3880 meters in deep Himalayas in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
He said till date 2,82,376 yatris had performed darshan of the Shivlingam in the holy cave and out of them over 2.8 lakh pilgrims have returned to their home states while others are on way.
He said 100 pilgrims left from Baltal base camp for holy cave early this morning while 24 left by air for darshan from Baltal. The Officer said about 200 pilgrims reported at Baltal by this evening after performing darshan at holy cave.
He said 150 pilgrims left from Nunwan Pahalgam for holy cave via 32 km long Chnadanwari track. Besides, the pilgrims having night halt at Sheshnag and Panjtarni also left for their onwards sojourn, he added.
The Officer said that the weather on yatra route was pleasant during the entire day and the pilgrimage proceeded smoothly from both the tracks.
He said 148 pilgrims left for twin base camps of Baltal in Central Kashmir district of Ganderbal and Nunwan -Pahalgam in South Kashmir district of Anantnag where from they will proceed for the holy cave early tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile the Chhari Mubarak (holy mace) of Swami Amarnath will leave for cave shrine from its abode Dashnami Akhara, Srinagar in Kashmir Valley early tomorrow morning. Led by its sole custodian and founder of True Trust, Mahant Deependra Giri holy mace will perform Pooja at historic Durganag temple under the foothills of Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar where the prashad will also be served to the devotees and Sadhus.
Then Durga Nag Trust has made all arrangements for the Yatris and Sadhus to receive the holy mace.
Later the holy mace will perform pooja at the temples of Pampore, Awantipora, Bijbehara, Mattan and Ganeshpora before reaching Pahalgam in the evening.
The holy mace will stay at Pahalgam for two days and leave for its onwards sojourn from there on August 22 to reach the cave shrine in the wee hours of Sawan Purnima falling on August 26.
