JAMMU, Nov 13: Eight Government employees at Rural Development Department (RDD) in Poonch district have been placed under suspension and a high level committee constituted to probe allegations of embezzlement against them.
Sources informed that there were many public complaints against the suspended officials regarding corrupt practices in connivance with Sarpanch, Zainab Khatoon of Panchayat Sagra of Block Mankote in Poonch district.
Acting promptly against the complaints of grabbing public money, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Poonch, Rajesh Lakhan suspended the erring officials.
After suspension of the erring officials, the ACD constituted a seven member committee to probe the matter and submit report within a month.
An order from the office of the ACD Poonch listed the suspended officials as Mohd Azeem, MPW (Multipurpose Worker) who worked as Panchayat Secretary at Balakote; Zaheem Mustafa, VLW (Village Level Worker) worked as Panchayat Secretary in Poonch; Vinay Kumar, MPW, worked as Panchayat Secretary at Sathra; Shaheen Akhter, NYC (National Youth Corps) at Mankote; Rizwana Mumtaz, GRS (Gram Rozgar Sahyak) at Mankote; Abdul Hamid, GRS at Mankote; Mohd Yaqoob, GRS at Mankote and Sohil Majid Ansari, TA (Technical Assistant) at Balakote.
After suspension, all the erring officials have been attached with different offices at Poonch.
A high level Committee has been constituted by the ACD to probe the charges of corruption against the erring officials.
A report by a Committee constituted earlier mentioned about embezzlement, irregularity and misappropriation in Panchayat Sagra.
The order by the ACD further stated that the present Committee is mandated to go through preliminary findings of earlier Committee in detail and frame charge sheets incorporating all allegations raised against the delinquent employees.
Sources informed that the Committee will go in depth to find the exact amount of money embezzled by the erring officials.
It will also scrutinize all the online/offline records for the period reported in the preliminary report and current year record with respect to all the major schemes implemented by RDD in Panchayat Sagra and pinpoint other delinquent employees along with quantum of charges.
The Committee is also mandated to physically verify the works taken up under different schemes of RDD in Panchayat Sagra and discreetly enquire and frame charge sheet against other officers/officials in addition to those suspended and before framing the charges the names of other erring officials be shared with the ACD Poonch for immediate disciplinary action.
