RAJOURI, Aug 19: A sensational rape case of a class VII student by a class X boy in a village falling under Kandi police station came to the fore while the police swung into action and registered a case against the minor boy for rape under the POCSO Act.
According to the information, a 7th class student belonging to the Gujjar community told her family members after coming from the School on Friday that a 10th class student of the School had done a heinous act with her, after which the family members brought her to the Kandi police station and lodged a written complaint against the minor boy.
Police took immediate action and shifted the girl student to the Government Hospital Kandi where the doctor found during the preliminary investigation that a heinous act had been done with the minor girl student. After the doctor’s report and the written complaint of the victim’s family and the statement of the girl student, a case was registered against the minor boy in Kandi police station under FIR Number 86/2023 under section 376 and 6 POCSO Act.
Meanwhile, police has arrested the accused boy and handed him over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). CWC chairman Preeri Santhal said that they have taken custody of the accused and victim child and after completing legal formalities, the minor victim was handed over to her family and the accused was still in their custody till further court orders.
