JAMMU, Oct 8: Seventy two fresh dengue cases were reported across the Jammu division on Tuesday, taking the total number of infections this year to 1,482.
As many as 316 tests were conducted on October 7. Of the new cases, 41 are males and 31 females, including 8 children and 64 adults. Kathua district reported highest 36 cases, raising its total to 437. Jammu followed with 28 new cases, taking its cumulative tally to 617. Udhampur recorded 3 cases taking its total cases to 161. Ramban reported 2 new infections while Reasi, Samba and Kashmir detected one case each.
So far, 16,831 dengue tests have been conducted this year-slightly higher than 16,665, recorded during the same period in 2024. However, total infections remain significantly lower than last year’s 2,476 cases.
Hospital data shows 2 new admissions today while 2 patients were also discharged after recovery and six patients are still under treatment.
Health officials have urged people to remain alert, prevent mosquito breeding, and adopt protective measures such as using repellents and keeping surroundings clean.
