JAMMU, Apr 17: Police have arrested seven persons from Punjab for assaulting a man in Rajbagh area of Kathua district, early this morning.
Police said that a Dhaba owner at Kathua had heated argument on Wednesday night with a customer from Rajbagh who was a resident of Punjab and was running his Dhaba in Kathua. He called a group of men from Punjab this morning and they reached the house of the person at Rajbagh who had heated exchanges with dhaba owner yesterday, with a motive to attack him but he raised an alarm, police said.
After he raised the alarm the villagers in anger ran towards him and attacked the group and also damaged their vehicles.
The police team led by the Station House Officer, Rajbagh immediately swung into action. So far seven persons have been taken into the custody while a case under relevant sections was registered and investigation is taken up, police said.
The police have started further investigation into the matter.
