7-day training on evidence-based Unani care begins

Srinagar, Dec 22: To strengthen evidence-based Unani practice and integrative healthcare delivery, a seven-day capacity-building training program for AYUSH Medical Officers started at the Government Unani Hospital, Shalteng today.
The program was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, who attended the event as Chief Guest.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the initiative and underlined the importance of continuous professional development for healthcare professionals to strengthen patient care and public health delivery systems.
Designed to provide an updated clinical perspective, officials said that the training program involves resource persons from both Unani and Allopathic systems of medicine, promoting cross-disciplinary learning and holistic patient management.
Sessions during the week will focus on the management of lifestyle and metabolic disorders, rational use of medicines, recent clinical advancements, and best practices in hospital-based patient care.
The inaugural function was attended by Chief Medical Officer Srinagar Dr. Tahir Sajad; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Irfan Bahadur; Tehsildar Rayees Ahmad Dar; Assistant Director AYUSH Dr. Sajad Hussain Shuja; District AYUSH Officer Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Payar; Divisional Nodal Officer Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Kashmir Division) Dr. Nazir Ahmad Ahangar, besides medical officers, paramedical staff and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Medical Superintendent, Government Unani Hospital, Shalteng, Dr. Mohammad Sultan Paray, said the program reflects the department’s commitment to strengthening the skills of the healthcare workforce and improving the quality of healthcare services delivered to the public.
The week-long training is being conducted under the aegis of the AYUSH Department and is expected to significantly contribute to capacity building, professional excellence and improved healthcare outcomes in the region.
