RAJOURI, June 21: The police foiled bovine smuggling bid and seized a vehicle and rescued seven bovines from it in Thannamandi area of Rajouri district last night.
Reports said during routine checking, a team of police under the supervision of SHO Thannamandi, Javed Malik signalled a Tata mobile vehicle No. JK11B/ 4679 to stop while it was on way to Mughal Road side on Thannamandi -Rajouri road.
However, driver of the vehicle parked it at some distance from police point and jumped out of the vehicle and ran towards the fields.
The vehicle abandoned by driver was seized on spot and seven bovines were found loaded in it which were rescued.
A case in FIR No. 115/2019 under Sections 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered in Thannamandi Police Station. The police was searching for the accused driver.
