67th Kargil Youm-e-Fateh celebrated

KARGIL, Dec 21: 67th Kargil Youm-e-Fateh (Kargil Victory Day) was celebrated with fervour in Khree Sultan Cho Stadium, here.
The program was organized by the 121 Big Kargil, in which GOC 8 Mountain Division Kargil, CEC LAHDC Kargil Haneefa Jan, Executive Councilor Aga Syed Abass Rizvi, Murtaza Khalili from Islamia School Kargil, Abass Karrari from Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), civil and Government dignitaries took part.
While speaking, Vice Chairman, IKMT, Abass Karrari said that it is very unfortunate that the people of Kargil have always served the nation in every war between India and Pakistan but despite that Kargil has been discriminated always. He added that the recent Ladakh Scouts recruitment is the proof of discrimination which should not be repeated again.
Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor Mohammad Hannefa Jan has also expressed concern over recent recruitment in Ladakh scouts in which out of 53 vacancies only one was selected from Kargil  district and 52 were selected from Leh despite of approximately equal participation.
Haneefa said that during recruitment in Ladakh Scouts, the youths of Kargil have been discriminated and army should take up this issue with the higher authorities.
GOC 8 Mountain Division Kargil in his speech assured that he will take up the issue with higher authorities.
On the occasion, Army displayed heavy weapon including Bofors gun.
Despite harsh cold conditions, thousands of locals and the army personnel participated in the programme. Colorful programmes were also performed by the students from various schools of Kargil district.
It is to mention that, the programme was organized to express gratitude and salute to the Indian Army who entered into Kargil district via Zojila on December 21, 1948.
