SRINAGAR, June 30: Nearly 6000 8th pass students participated in the examination under National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) , through 102 centres set-up across the J&K Union Territory.
The examination was conducted by J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) with active support of School Education Department.
The clearance of examination assures Rs 12,000 yearly financial assistance to academically promising students belonging to economically weaker sections for four years. The NMMSS being flagship scheme of Central Government has been instrumental in encouraging meritorious students to chase their academic dreams over the years.
The Central Government has allotted a quota of 1068 for the meritorious students of Jammu and Kashmir this year for which passing the examination holds critical importance.
The J&K BOSE had made elaborate arrangements for ensuring complete transparency through multi-layer monitoring mechanism involving CEOs, HoIs, Board officials and invigilators.
