JAMMU, Feb 22: The 10th Martyrdom Day of braveheart Captain Tushar Mahajan was observed with solemn tribute and patriotic fervour at Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, where more than 60 families of Army martyrs from across the country were honoured for their supreme sacrifice and resilience.
The commemorative programme was organized by the Captain Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust and was attended by Army officers, civil society members, students, dignitaries and families of martyrs. Shagun Parihar, MLA Kishtwar, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Meghna Girish, Major General Sunita Kapoor, Colonel R K Sharma, Colonel VK Sahi, Lt Cdr Parvin Tulpule, chairman Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal and family members of several martyrs were among the guests of honour.
Floral tribute were paid to Captain Tushar Mahajan amid an atmosphere of deep emotion and patriotic pride. Remembering the valiant officer’s courage and dedication, the speakers highlighted his unwavering commitment towards safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation and called upon the younger generation to draw inspiration from the lives of the martyrs.
A major highlight of the event was the honouring of over 60 martyr families representing different parts of the country. They were honoured for their strength and sacrifice.
Students of the host college presented patriotic cultural performances, adding to the solemnity and pride of the occasion. The programme concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the ideals of unity, patriotism and selfless service to the nation.
Chairman of the Trust, Dev Raj Gupta, outlined various initiatives undertaken by the organization and reiterated its commitment to preserving the legacy of Captain Tushar Mahajan and extending support to the families of martyrs through meaningful activities.
