JAMMU, Apr 8: Sixty boys of border areas belonging to the “Centres for Border Youth Training and Empowerment” (C-BYTE), being run under the skill development component of BADP scheme in Jammu district, cleared the physical and medical phase of Army recruitment being held at Samba since April 2.
The six centres of Arnia, Suchetgarh, Mandal, Marh, Pargwal and Khour jointly recorded nearly 50% selection rate within just 3 months of training programme that commenced under BADP on January 1, 2016.
Out of a total of 129 boys who participated, 81 boys could successfully clear the physical tests but eventually only 60 could get through after the medical and documentation phase. Suchetgarh and Khour centres recorded the best success rate of 52%. Centrewise details are: 09 boys of Arnia; 21 of Suchetgarh; 06 of Mandal; 09 of Marh; 05 of Pargwal and 10 of Khour Centre could clear the first hurdle. All these 60 boys have now to go through the academic hurdle in the last week of April.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier 32 boys of these centres had qualified the physical hurdle of police recruitment who are now awaiting their final selection after taking the written tests.
These centres were started by Jammu district administration in border sub-divisions with the motive to train youth for recruitment into armed forces. A total of 150 boys underwent training in the first batch which was held from January 1, 2016 till March 31, 2016. The second batch is commencing from April 11 wherein a very enthusiastic response has come from border youth as nearly 350 boys have been selected for training which will last till July 12.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh complimented each instructor and coordinator of these six centres for showing such outstanding results in first batch.
