SRINAGAR, Mar 29: Police in Ganderbal today seized six vehicles involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals during a crackdown across multiple areas of the district.
The action was carried out within the jurisdictions of Police Stations Safapora, Lar and Gund as part of an ongoing drive to curb unauthorized mining activities, police said.
According to officials, the vehicles were found extracting and transporting mineral material without valid authorization, in violation of prescribed norms. The vehicles were seized on the spot.
The matter was subsequently referred to the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed fines under relevant legal provisions, police said.
