JOHANNESBURG, Feb 4: Six Lesotho nationals were killed and several others injured in a shooting near the town of Meyerton in South Africa’s Gauteng Province on Tuesday, local police said.
The victims were traveling in a minibus when it was ambushed by a group of suspects who opened fire on the vehicle without provocation, Gauteng Police Deputy Commissioner Fred Kekana said at the scene.
The injured are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Kekana said three suspects have been arrested, and forensic teams remain at the scene to conduct further investigations.
“The victims and the suspects are all Lesotho nationals,” Kekana added. (UNI)
