Srinagar, Dec 9: Six persons were convicted today by a judicial magistrate in Pampore in connection with two long-pending criminal cases dating back to 2017.
A police spokesperson said the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMIC) Pampore delivered the judgment in FIR No. 46/2017 and FIR No. 48/2017, both registered at Police Station Pampore, pertaining to offences under Sections 147, 148, 149, 354, 323, 506, 427, 336, and 447 of the IPC.
He said the court awarded one month’s simple imprisonment for each offence to all six convicts. In addition, each has been fined Rs. 10,000 and directed to pay Rs. 20,000 compensation to the complainant in recognition of the “harm and inconvenience suffered by the victim.”
The spokesperson described the conviction as a “notable achievement” for Police Station Pampore, citing the timely investigation, proper documentation, and careful preservation of evidence as key to securing the verdict.
He added that Prosecuting Officer Naveed Sarwar Khan played a crucial role through “clear legal submissions, structured presentation of evidence, and professional courtroom conduct,” which helped establish a “complete, consistent, and credible” evidentiary record.
