6 arrested for illegal mining

Srinagar, Dec 1: Police today arrested six persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Pulwama and Sopore.
As per authorities, a police team from Police Station Pulwama, arrested six persons and seized six vehicles for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Romshi Nallah.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jaffer Hussain, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din resident of Doda, Mohammad Shaheen Khan, son of Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, resident of Banali Boniyar, Nazir Ahmad Hajam, son of Mohammad Sultan Hajam resident of Gusoo, Rafiq Ahmad Wani, son of Mohammad Ayoub Wani resident of Chewakalan Pulwama and Zahoor Ahmad Sofi, son of Abdul Aziz Sofi resident of Wahibugh.
Meanwhile, in Sopore, a police team of Police Station Tarzoo headed by SHO PS Tarzoo seized a tractor and arrested a driver for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
The driver has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, resident of Amberpora Sopore.
“Accordingly, cases under relevant Sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated,” police said.
