JAMMU, June 1: The 55th Shaheedi Divas of Bhagat Amarnath was observed today with devotion and reverence in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
In this connection a function was organized at Shiromani Sant Kabir Bhawan, Chak-Avtara, Bishnah, under the banner of Sadguru Kabir Trust. A large number of devotees and community members gathered to pay tribute to Bhagat Amarnath, remembered for his sacrifice and unwavering stand for social justice.
Chanchala Bhagat, daughter of Bhagat Amarnath, attended the event as the chief guest. Dr D K Manyal, MLA Ramgarh; Prof Garu Ram, MLA Suchetgarh; Dr Rajiv Bhagat, MLA Bishnah; Mohan Lal, MLA Akhnoor; Dr Bharat Bhushan, MLA Kathua; Surinder Kumar, MLA Marh; Dharminder Kumar, DDC Bishnah, and Surekha Devi, DDC Arnia attended the event as guests of honour.
One of the main highlights was the release of a book on Bhagat Amarnath’s life and achievements. The book has been authored by Chaman Lal Chaman.
A function was also organized at Kabir Temple, Dei Chak, where devotees remembered his sacrifice through bhajans, satsangs, and Kabir Vani. MLA Marh Surinder Kumar paid tribute to the martyr, acknowledging his contribution to social justice and equality.
Addressing the function, the MLA said that Amarnath Bhagat was a revolutionary leader of Dalit Samaj of J&K in his times and he has worked a lot for the upliftment of the reserved categories. He said after witnessing injustice with downtrodden section of society Amarnath resigned from the Government job and joined social service.
Bhagat Amar Nath and Jagan Nath Charitable Trust organized a program at Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath Samark Park in Jammu to pay tributes to him on his Shaheedi Divas. The tribute ceremony was attended by Surinder Bhagat, Chairman of the Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath Charitable Trust, along with MLAs Vikram Randhawa, Mohan Lal Bhagat, Krishan Lal Bhagat and Yudhvir Sethi.
Trust members including Rashpal Digra, Advocate Rajan Bhagat, LD Gorkha, Bansilal Choudhary, Mohan Lal Pawar, Bachan Lal, Gurmeet Dutta, and Bilal Choudhary participated in the event to pay their respects and remember the great sacrifice of Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath, who gave his life for the empowerment of the marginalized.
Various social and political activists paid tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Amar Nath here today and said, Real heroes never die; they live on in our hearts and memories.
BJP activist R L Kaith while paying heartfelt tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath said that it was due to efforts of Bhagat Amarnath that the J&K Government announced reservation for the Scheduled Castes both in State legislature and Government services.
Prominent among those who paid tributes included RTI India Newa Chairman Sansar Singh Motan, Darshan Kumar Bassa, Baldev Chand Sandhu, Des Raj Kaith, Naresh Kumar Kaith, Jagdish Raj Kaith and Sikandar Kumar.
All Jammu Based Reserved Category Employees Association Kashmir (AJBRCEAK) paid a solemn and rich tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath at Raj Bagh, Srinagar. The commemorative event saw the presence of hundreds of Jammu-based employees serving in Kashmir, all gathered under the chairmanship of Vipen Kumar. He reiterated that sacrifice of Shaheed Amarnath Bhagat for implementation of Reservation rules in J&K continues to resonate deeply within the community.
Among the prominent members present at the occasion were Navneet Kundal, Yashpal Bhagat, Lalit Kumar, Naveen Kumar, Jairnail Singh, Shashi Goutam and Vijay Dutt along with other executive members.
