55.90 pc Kashmiri migrants vote in Phase 3 of J&K Polls

JAMMU : Around 55.90 per cent of Kashmiri Migrants today exercised their right to franchise in the third phase of Assembly elections in which three districts of Kashmir region went to poll.

16 constituencies spread across Budgam, Pulwama and Baramulla districts underwent polling today. “There were 8,438 registered Kashmiri Migrant voters from these three districts out of which 4,717 votes were polled at special polling stations established at different locations in Jammu, Udhampur and Delhi,” an official here said.

He said in Jammu there were highest 21 special polling stations set up for Kashmiri Migrant voters, adding, “there were 8,166 registered voters, out of which 4,607 (56.42 per cent) polled votes.”

In Delhi, there were 56 voters out of which 28 (50 per cent) cast their vote at four polling stations, while in Udhampur only one polling station was established and out of total 216 voters, only 82 (37.96 per cent) exercised their right to franchise.

“Overall polling percentage was 55.90 per cent while the polling process remained peaceful at the booths,” he added. (AGENCIES)
