5200 kg Lahan, 200 bottles of illicit liquor destroyed

KATHUA, Sept 6: Conducting a series of raids, the Excise Department destroyed 5200 kg Lahan and 200 bottles of illicit liquor besides smashing five working stills in different areas of Kathua and Hiranagar.
Excise teams, under the command of ETO Excise, Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and ETO Eradication Wing Jammu, Suresh Sharma, conducted a series of raids in Kathua and Hiranagar Excise ranges at villages Ghatti, Tanda, Kangrial, Sunjwan, Maichak, Chak Drabkhan, Barnoti, Banyari, Mirpur, Jaggu, Ladwal, Dadoli, Sitdyal, Parsochak, Dhabwal and Skaetchak.
During the course of raids, approximately 5200 kg of Lahan and 200 bottles of illicit liquor was recovered and destroyed on spot. In the process, five working stills were smashed.
These raids were conducted in last month, under the overall supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K, T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Nagendra Singh Jamwal, to curb the menace of illegal distillation and smuggling of liquor.
