JAMMU, Aug 14: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has notionally appointed five State Police Services (SPS) officers of the then Jammu and Kashmir cadre into Indian Police Services (IPS) with all service related benefits.

“In pursuance to directions of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Jammu bench contained in order dated April 1, 2025, five officers are notionally appointed to IPS of the then Jammu and Kashmir cadre with all the service related benefits,” an order issued by the MHA said.
The officers appointed to IPS are Sunil Dutt, Abhay Kumar Mahajan, Rupender Kumar Chalotra, Rajnish Pran and Ashok Kumar Sharma.
Sunil Dutt, Abhay Kumar Mahajan and Rupender Kumar Chalotra have been appointed against Select List of the year 2010 and allotted Position Nos.2, 4 and 6 while Rajnish Pran and Ashok Kumar Sharma were given 2011 and 2012 Select List and Positions Nos. 3 and 1 respectively.
All these officers have since retired from the services.
