JAMMU, Jan 30: The Ministry of Home Affairs has promoted five AGMUT cadre IPS officers to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP), including three officers who have been granted proforma promotion while on Central deputation.

As per an order issued by the Ministry, 1995 batch AGMUT cadre IPS officers Dr Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal and David Lalrinsanga have been promoted to the DGP rank in level 16 of the pay matrix, with effect from February 1, 2026, or from the date they assume charge, whichever is later.
While son of soil SD Singh Jamwal is currently posted as DGP Arunachal Pradesh, David Lalrinsanga has been serving as Special CP, Ops (PCR & Communications), Delhi, with additional charge of Special Police Unit for North-Eastern Region (SPUNER).
Meanwhile, three other 1995 batch AGMUT Cadre IPS officers-Satish Shriramaji Khandare, Rajesh Kumar and Tsewang Namgyal Kalon, have been granted proforma promotion to the DGP grade in level 16 of the pay matrix with effect from the date of assumption of charge of their immediate juniors in the cadre.
While former ADGP Ladakh, Satish Khandare is currently on Central deputation and serving as ADG BSF, Rajesh Kumar, who has previously served as IGP CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir, is currently posted as ADG CRPF and Tsewang Namgyal Kalon is currently serving as ADG BSF, Command HQ (Special Ops).
