5-day Urs of Hazrat Sayed Rasool Shah concludes

RAJOURI, Jan 9: The five-day annual Urs of Sufi Saint Hazrat Sayed Rasool Shah (RA), popularly known as Nanga Baji Sahib, concluded today with immense religious fervour, devotion, and large public participation at village Bravhi in Kalakote area of Rajouri district.
The Urs of Hazrat Nanga Baji Sahib (RA), observed annually, witnessed people gathering in large numbers from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining regions. The concluding day featured special religious programmes, including recitation of the Holy Quran, Naat-e-Rasool (SAW), and collective prayers.

Special prayers were offered seeking peace, harmony, brotherhood, and prosperity for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire country.
Hazrat Nanga Baji Sahib was a revered Sufi saint and a pious spiritual personality who originally hailed from village Malangam in Bandipora district of Kashmir. His teachings of love, tolerance, unity, and spiritual enlightenment continue to inspire followers cutting across religious, social, and cultural boundaries.
Thousands of devotees paid obeisance during the Urs, reaffirming their faith in the saint’s spiritual legacy. A free Langar was arranged throughout the five days for devotees, reflecting the true spirit of selfless service, compassion, and communal harmony that Sufi traditions promote.
Leaders from different political parties, social workers, religious scholars, and several prominent personalities also attended the Urs. They highlighted the relevance of Sufi culture in strengthening social cohesion, promoting peace, and fostering mutual respect among communities.
The annual Urs is being organized by Sayed Basharat Hussain Shah, son of Syed Muzaffer Hussain Shah, popularly known as Baji Sahib, and grandson of Hazrat Sayed Rasool Shah. He commands a large number of followers and has been playing a significant role in preserving and promoting the rich Sufi heritage and spiritual traditions of the region.
