5 bodies fished out from Ranbir Canal, Tawi

JAMMU, July 8: Five bodies were fished out from different areas of Ranbir Canal and river Tawi here today.
As per police sources, some locals noticed a body floating in the canal near Patel Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Talab Tillo police post.
On getting information, police reached the spot and fished out the body. The deceased has been identified as Subash, a resident of Ambala, presently residing at Toph Sherkhania.
Meanwhile, body of Dharam Singh (40), son of Shankar Singh of Doda, presently residing in Shiv Nagar was recovered near Rajinder Park, falling under the jurisdiction of Canal Road police post.
While searching body of Dharam, police also found another unidentified body of a male aged around 40 years near Rajinder Park.
Inspector Bashir Kohli, In-charge police post Canal Road said that unidentified deceased was wearing sky colour jean pants with white check shirt.
The body has been shifted to mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for identification, he added.
Meanwhile, during the ongoing search operation in river Tawi at Sidhra, police successfully fished out bodies of two youth who drowned yesterday.
The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Vishal Bhat, son of M K Bhan, resident of Lakhar Mandi, Janipur and 24-year-Rajesh Bhardwaj son of Jainail Singh resident of Durga Nagar, Bantalab.
The bodies were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where after conducting postmortem, the bodies were handed over to family members for last rites.
Cases under relevant Sections have been registered at concerned police stations and investigation started.
