BUDGAM, Aug 12: The 4th Open Pencak Silat Championship 2025-26 concluded at the Indoor Sports Hall, Budgam, after two days of intense competition. Organised by the District Budgam Pencak Silat Association in collaboration with the Pencak Silat Association of J&K, the event saw around 400 participants from various schools and clubs compete in Under-14, Under-17, Under-20 and Senior categories for both boys and girls.
Held under the banner of Marhoom Allama Aga Syed Mohammad Baqir Al-Moosavi Al-Najafi, the event’s chief guest Agha Syed Abul Hasan al-Moosavi al-Safavi emphasized the need for education, strength and self-reliance. Guests of honour included Irfan Aziz, Chief Coach of India and Manzoor Ahmed.
The championship promoted fitness, discipline and sports culture in the region. Winners were awarded medals during the closing ceremony. Notably, nine students from J&K and two from Ladakh will represent India at the upcoming Asian Junior Pencak Silat Championship in Srinagar this September.
