JAMMU:  After a day’s suspension, third batch of 4,477 Amarnath pilgrims today left from Yatri Niwas base camp here for the holy cave shrine in South Kashmir.

“A total of 4,477 people left this morning in 136 vehicles,” an official here said.

The yatris comprised of 3,298 males, 976 females and 193 sadhus. About 2,894 pilgrims left for Pahalgam and 1,583 for Baltal in 136 vehicles, including 95 buses and 41 light motor vehicles.

The yatra remained suspended yesterday as the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed after rains triggered landslides in the area. (AGENCIES)
