44 new dengue cases reported, tally rises to 628

JAMMU, Sept 20: Jammu and Kashmir reported 44 new dengue cases on other day, taking the cumulative tally for the year 2025 to 628.
A total of 397 tests were conducted on Friday, of which 31 males and 13 females tested positive. Among the new cases, six were children under 18 years, while 38 were adults.
District-wise, Jammu continued to report the highest number with 12 fresh cases, raising its total to 224. Kathua followed with 15 new cases and a cumulative tally of 182. Samba reported 7 new infections, Udhampur 2, Reasi 3, Poonch 3, Ramban 1 and Kashmir 1. Ten cases have also been reported this year from outside J&K.
So far in 2025, 11,698 tests have been conducted, yielding 628 positives. In comparison, 10,677 tests were done by the same date in 2024, when 983 cases had been recorded-indicating a lower positivity rate this year.
On the clinical front, no fresh hospital admissions were reported on Friday. Six patients were discharged, while seven remain under treatment. Cumulatively, 20 patients have been admitted since January, with one death recorded earlier at DMC Ludhiana.
