RAJOURI : At least 40 members of a marriage party were feared killed when their bus was washed away due to flash flood in a khud(stream) in Laam village of Nowshera teshil here today.
According to sources, the incident took place when the bus was crossing the Khud.
The bus, coming from the Rajpura-Bhata, was going to Laam village for a marriage function.
Locals and police have launched a rescue operation, but chances of survivors appeared remote due to heavy rains and strong current in the stream.
Details are awaited from the spot located in a remote area of this district.
A pall of gloom descended on the village which was being decked up for the marriage. It was not immediately known whether the bus driver or any other passenger managed to swim to safety.
Nets have been cast to fish out bodies, but no success had been accomplished so far.
