RAJOURI, Feb 14: The police arrested four youth from Sunderbani and Thannamandi area of district Rajouri and recovered about 25 gms of heroin from their possession.
Reports said police nabbed a drug-peddler and recovered some quantity of heroin from his possession in Sunderbani area of Rajouri late last evening.
A police team from Sunderbani led by SHO, Insp Rajiv Sharma recovered about 20 grams of a heroin during checking at ITI Naka, Sunderbani.
During the checking, a passenger vehicle (Taxi) Suzuki Ertiga bearing Registration No. JK12D-3360 was intercepted. Upon thorough search of the vehicle and its occupants, one passenger identified as Riaz Ahmad, son of Mohd Rashid, resident of Gursai, Tehsil Mendhar, district Poonch was found in possession of approximately 20 grams of a heroin. The accused was immediately arrested on the spot.
In this connection, FIR No. 09/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sunderbani, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, a police team led by SHO Thannamandi, Insp Sachinder Pal Singh, during routine checking in Churung area intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02CK-1786 and recovered contraband substance from the occupants.
During checking, three persons identified as Saqeeb, son of Mohd Farooq Ahmed, resident of Rajdhani; Husnain Ahmed and Mubasir Khan, both sons of Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, residents of Rajdhani, Manjakote, were found travelling in the vehicle. Upon thorough search, nearly 5 grams of Chitta (heroin) was recovered from their possession.
The accused were taken into custody and the vehicle was seized on the spot. A case FIR No. 13/2026 has been registered against them, the police said.
