4- week general orientation programme for teachers begins

Jammu, Dec 14: Four weeks UGC general orientation for teachers  being organized by UGC Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) and Department of Home Sciences, University of Jammu, started this afternoon at the University of Jammu.
Speaking at the Inaugural function of the Orientation programme, JU Vice – Chancellor Prof R D Sharma  asked the participating teachers to make proper use of the training programme  aimed at the faculty development and to also to get benefited by the pioneering work done by the intellectuals and the resource persons.
He also asked the educators to focus on the target and to take regular feedback from the students at the end of the session so as to assess their performance. He called upon developing and maintaining effective programmes with special impetus on improving teaching and learning.
Prof. Sharma further asked the participants that such courses should not be taken only as eligibility criteria for career advancements but  should also be used for getting acquainted with the latest techniques available in teaching so that the same is disseminated to the students.
Earlier Prof. Neeru Sharma, Course  Co-ordinator of the programme presented her welcome address.
Prof. Naresh Padha, Director, UGC HRDC gave a brief overview of the General Orientation programme, and said that such courses are very important for understanding the significance of higher education.
Prof. Rajni Dhingra, guest of honour, on the occasion threw light on the importance of orientation course and said that this programme is a basic requirement of the teachers  and is aimed at overall faculty development.
Later, Ranjeet Kalra, Assistant Director, UGC HRDC presented the formal vote of thanks.
Around 45 teachers from various Colleges and Universities from within and outside the state are participating in the general orientation programme.
