SRINAGAR, Dec 8: Police in Handwara, along with the Geology & Mining Department, today seized four vehicles loaded with illegally extracted minerals.
According to the authorities, the vehicles included two tippers, a tractor and a JCB bearing registration numbers JK04B-6128, JK0ZAN-8269, GZUDV344185S3, and HAR3DXSSU01863008.
The legal proceedings against the persons involved in illegal extraction without possessing any lawful authority have been initiated, police said.
“This has been a continuous process of the J&K Police and the Geology and Mining Department to bust the nexus of mineral mafias in PD Handwara and to save the natural treasure from illegal prowling,” police said.
