KATHUA, May 16: In its continuous drive against the illegal smuggling of firewood within and across Kathua district, four vehicles have been seized within jurisdiction of Kathua Forest Division loaded with mixed firewood and Khairwood for land transit rule violations.
Three vehicles bearing Registration Numbers JK02AS-1237, HP62C-0433, HP73-7753 have been seized at Keeriyan Gandiyal Forest Post with assistance of Police officials of Keeriyan Gandyal Police Post. One vehicle bearing Number JK08L-3936 loaded with 35 logs of illicit Khairwood was seized at Banyari Harichak by officials of Korepunnu Checkpost headed by Dheeraj Pankaj incharge BO with the assistance of Forest Protection Force.
The seizure was done under the supervision of Range Officer Kathua, Narinder Kumar and Range Officer Jasrota, Munish Gupta under the guidance of Dr. Rajan Singh, DFO Kathua. The cases have been registered at Range Offices Kathua, Jasrota for violation of section 41, 42 of Indian Forest Act 1927, provisions of SO 81 of 2020 and SRO 111 of 2016 and confiscation proceedings have been initiated in the forum of Authorized Officer (DFO) Kathua. Further investigation is being carried out.
