JAMMU, Nov 6: Police arrested four narcotic smugglers along with heroine worth several thousands from Shakti Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bakshi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Bakshi Nagar police station raised a naka at Shakti Nagar and signaled a Spark car bearing registration number JK02AN-1688 to stop for checking, which was coming from Akhnoor to Maheshpura.
On seeing police party, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered heroin from the possession of the driver and he was arrested accordingly. He has been identified as Harsh Gupta, son of Ashok Gupta, a resident of Gandhi Nagar.
During questioning, Harsh revealed the names of his three associates, who were also arrested by the police. They have been identified as Tarish Sharma, son of Devender Kumar Sharma and Arjun Sharma, son of Dinesh Sharma, trio residents of Gandhi Nagar and Sachin Sharma, son of Kishore Kumar of Indira Nagar, Miran Sahib.
A total of 6.5 grams of heroin worth several thousands was recovered from the possession of all the accused persons.
A case under FIR Number 143/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at Bakshi Nagar police station and investigation started to unearth the other narcotic smugglers associated with the arrested accused.
Police team led by SHO Bakshi Nagar police station Inspector Ashwani Kumar along with SI Javed Iqbal Kataria and SI Mukhtiyar Ali made the arrests under the supervision of Vivek Shekhar, Incharge SDPO City West, Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan, SP City North, Jammu and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
