UDHAMPUR, Mar 15: In two separate cases, Police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 75.36 grams of heroin from their possession.
Police team of Police Station Chenani, led by SHO Raghuvir Singh, while conducting naka checking duty at Motor Shed, Chenani, intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK05C- 8263 coming from Jammu towards Srinagar.
On questioning, one person sitting in the truck disclosed his identity as Jahangeer Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghordi Ahmed Bhat of Panzgram, Kupwara. During his personal search, 59.85 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
Police arrested the accused and registered case FIR No. 42/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act at PS Chennai.
Meanwhile, three inter-district drug peddlers were arrested when a police team of Police Post Tikri, while conducting routine naka checking, intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK11G-9286 coming from Jammu towards Udhampur.
Upon personal search of the trio, travelling in the vehicle, a total of 15.51 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession. The driver disclosed his identity as Rafiq Ahmed, son of Abdul Karim of Sainik Colony while the co-passengers disclosed their identities as Arun Singh son of Prakash Singh of Sainik Colony and Amandeep Singh son of Swarn Singh of Chowadhi.
Accordingly all three persons were arrested on the spot and FIR No. 49/2026 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
