4 drug peddlers arrested, 71.95 grams heroin recovered

UDHAMPUR, July 30: In a major success, Police arrested four drug peddlers in Tikri area and recovered 71.95 grams of heroin like substance from their possession.
A team from Police Post Tikri apprehended these narco smugglers when they were travelling in a vehicle bearing registration number JK15C-2964, which was on its way from Jammu towards Srinagar. During their frisking, heroin was recovered from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohd Younis Malla son of Mohd Yaqoob.Malla of Shilvat, Bandipora. (driver), Wahid Maqbool son of Mohd. Maqbool Mir of Sumbal, Bandipora, Qaiser Ahmed Ganie son of Nisar Ahmed of Arampora Sumbal, Bandipora and Ahmed Ganie son of Ghulam Nabi Mir of Shilvat Sumbal, Bandipora.
In this connection, a case FIR under sections 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police today attached moveable property worth Rs 10 lakh of a notorious drug peddler under Section 68(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The accused, namely Ashraf son of Abdul Rashid of Tankipura, Tehsil Devsar, District Kulgam, is involved in FIR No. 163/2024 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Chenani. He is currently lodged in District Jail Udhampur and has a history of involvement in multiple NDPS-related cases.
The attached properties include a car bearing registration number JK13B-1343 and Tata Magic vehicle bearing registration number JK18-5075.
The attachment order was issued by the investigating officer as part of ongoing legal proceedings against the accused.
