JAMMU, Aug 19: Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has booked 18 individuals, including four police officials, in six separate cases of alleged criminal breach of trust and fraud involving crores of rupees.

A Crime Branch official said the action followed communications from Police Headquarters and complaints received from multiple victims across Jammu and outside.
He said an FIR has been registered against Head Constable Mohan Singh, Follower Vijay Kumar, Follower Sohan Lal, and Assistant Incharge CPPP Jammu Shalinder Dogra for criminal breach of trust.
He said another case was lodged against Vijay Khokher, proprietor of M/s Mala Enterprises Auction Group and a follower in the police department, for misappropriating Rs 34.25 lakh deposited by one Sanjeev Sharma of Bishnah.
In a separate case, the police official said one Raj Kumar Mehra of Channi Himmat was defrauded of Rs 48.80 lakh in a “filmy style fraud.”
According to him, he was trapped through Facebook by a woman posing as a UK national, who later pretended to be caught by Customs at Mumbai airport and extracted money.
He said those booked in this fraud include Alka Joshi of Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand), Chandra Bhan of Bulandshahar (Uttar Pradesh), Vinod Mapsekar of Gandhi Nagar (Gujarat), Subash Kumar of Unnao (Uttar Pradesh), and Rajesh Baliram Jadhav of Thane (Maharashtra), among others.
The Crime Branch official said another case has been registered against a property dealer, identified as Dharamvir Sharma of Vikas Nagar, Patoli Magotrian, Jammu, for allegedly duping two sisters, Sushma Devi and Savita Devi, of Rs 24 lakh on the pretext of providing them plots at Nagbani.
“Another FIR was filed against Vijay Gill and Haris Gill, both residents of Supwal, Samba, for cheating one Vishal Kumar of Mawa Samba of Rs 20 lakh under the guise of arranging a work visa,” he said.
The CB official said yet another case was registered against Ravinder Singh of Digiana Camp, Jammu, presently living in Nainital, Uttarakhand, and others for allegedly duping five complainants, including Ravneet Kour, Surinder Kour, and Avtar Singh of Poonch, Sanjeev Kumar of Nowshera Rajouri, and Gurdeep Kour of R S Pura Jammu, of over Rs 30 lakh by promising them land at Gadigarh.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh confirmed that six FIRs-numbered 44, 45, 47, 48, 49, and 50 of 2025-have been registered at Police Station Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu and further investigations have been started after preliminary verification reports established criminality in all the complaints.
