SRINAGAR, Oct 4: Acting tough against individuals involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, the police arrested four individuals and seized four vehicles in Baramulla today.
A police party, under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Ashfaq Alam, assisted by SHO PS Tangmarg, seized two vehicles (tippers) and arrested two drivers identified as Gulzar Ahmad Tantray, son of Bashir Ahmad and Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, son of Gh Nabi, both residents of Gonipora, who were involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Kulhama, Tangmarg, police said.
In another operation, according to authorities, a police party, under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg and assisted by SHO PS Kunzer, seized two vehicles (tractors) and arrested two drivers identified as Ab Majeed Bhat, son of Gh Ahmad and Firdous Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Akbar, both residents of Wussan Kunzer, who were involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Wussan Kunzer.
Consequently, cases under the relevant sections of the law have been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and Kunzer, and further investigations have been initiated.
