4 Army soldiers killed, 1 injured in Ramban road mishap

Jammu, Dec 1 (UNI) Four Army jawans were killed, while one was critically injured, when a car skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the mountainous Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

”Four Army personnel died while one suffered injuries, when a private car skidded off and plunged into a 300-400 mt deep gorge this evening at around 1850 hrs near Shaitani Nullah in Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway,” Ramban SSP Mohan Lal said.

He said the jawans were posted in Srinagar and were on way to Jammu on leave, when the mishap took place. ”The injured has been rushed to the Srinagar hospital,” he added.

The deceased were identified as Rifleman (JAKLI) Pawan Kumar, resident of Jammu; Rifleman Vijay Kumar, resident of Gau Manasan, Jammu; Om Parkash, resident of Sunetar, Ramnagar, district Udhampur and Pawan Kumar, resident of village Dhanwal, Akhnoor. Meanwhile, the injured jawan was identified as Joginder Pal, resident of village Bagyal, Palli Morh, district Kathua, said the SSP. (Agencies)
