JAMMU, June 11: In a major breakthrough, the Jammu and Kashmir Police today arrested the four accused in connection with a recent firing incident in Gangyal area of the town.
They were also paraded and beaten publicly by the police in Gangyal area in order to set a deterrent for the other criminals operating in the area.

A police official said that Surinder Singh of Dashmesh Nagar, Harjot Singh alias Anda of Dashmesh Nagar, Raman Kumar of Model Town, Gangyal; and Mohammad Ashraf of Kiryani Talab, Narwal, were arrested in connection with a case FIR number 68/2025 under Sections 109, 111, 191(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and 3/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Gangyal.
According to him, the case pertains to an attack on two other criminals, Paramjeet Singh alias Murga and Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky, on June 6 by the accused, resulting in injuries to the duo.
He said the accused have a history of criminal activities and are believed to be part of an organised gang operating in the region.
The police officer added that further investigation into the case is underway to identify more persons linked to the case and expose the full extent of the criminal network.
Pertinently, the arrests were made by a team of Police Station Gangyal under the supervision of SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh, SP City South, Ajay Sharma, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) South, Sunil Singh Jasrotia.
Meanwhile, in a statement regarding the public parading and beating of the accused, police said that in continuation of the investigation under FIR number 68/2025 registered at Police Station Gangyal, the accused, while in police custody and being taken to the crime spot for the preparation of a pointing-out memo, attempted to disrupt proceedings by threatening civilians, instilling fear, and openly claiming gangster affiliations.
“They tried to intimidate the public and police by asserting they would soon be released and retaliate,” police said.
“However, the police acted swiftly and firmly, neutralizing the situation with reinforcements and restoring order. This strong response crushed the criminal arrogance of the accused, reaffirmed public confidence, and sent a clear message that no intimidation or false bravado will be tolerated in a law-abiding society,” they said.
