39 fresh dengue cases reported

JAMMU, Oct 16: Thirty-nine fresh dengue cases were reported across the Jammu division on Wednesday, taking the total number of infections this year to 1,980.
As many as 209 tests were conducted on October 15. Of the new cases, 24 are males and 15 females, including 2 children and 37 adults. Jammu district reported highest 17 cases, raising its total to 854. Kathua followed with 13 new cases, taking its cumulative tally to 553. Udhampur recorded 4 cases each while Samba, Reasi, and Poonch detected one case each. Two cases were also reported from Other States/UTs.
So far, 19,160 dengue tests have been conducted this year—slightly lower than that recorded during the same period in 2024, whereas the total infections remain significantly lower than last year’s 3,326 cases.
Hospital data shows five new admissions today while two patients were also discharged. Nine patients are still under treatment in various hospitals.
Health officials have urged people to remain alert, prevent mosquito breeding, and adopt protective measures such as using repellents and keeping surroundings clean.
