35,036 cases settled in National Lok Adalats across State

JAMMU, Sept 9: J&K State Legal Services Authority organized National Lok Adalats today across the State at High Court, district and tehsil level under the patronage of Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed, Chief Justice High Court of J&K, Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority.
A total of 35036 cases were disposed off in the Lok Adalats, which includes 142 MACT cases, 511 bank recovery suits and an amount of Rs 5.62 crore approximately was awarded as compensation in MACT cases and amount of Rs 29.38 crore approximately was recovered in bank recovery suits.
JAMMU: A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Vinod Chatterji Koul, District Legal Service Authority at District Court Complex, here. A total number of ten benches were constituted at District Court Complex Jammu. The first bench was presided over by VC Koul, Principal District and Session Judge, Jammu assisted by Haq Nawaz Zargar, 3rd Additional District and Session Judge, Jammu. The second bench was presided over ML Manhas, Special Judge Anti Corruption (CBI Cases) Jammu and assisted by Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Mobile Magistrate (Traffic), Jammu. The third bench was headed by Bala Jyoti, Additional District Judge (Bank Cases) Jammu and assisted by Surinder Singh, City Judge, Jammu. The fourth bench was headed by Sham Lal Lalhal, Additional District and Session Judge, Jammu and assisted by Jatinder Singh, Additional District and Session Judge MACT, Jammu. The fifth bench was headed by Khalil Ahmed Choudhary, Presiding Officer District Consumer Protection Forum, Jammu and assisted by Som Lal, Sub Judge, Special Mobile Magistrate Jammu (13th FC). The sixth bench was headed by Kusum Pandita, Sub Judge, Jammu and assisted by Wangial Tsering Forest Magistrate, Jammu. The seventh bench was headed by Manoj Parihar, Special Municipal Magistrate, Jammu and assisted by Amit Sharma, Special Mobile Magistrate Traffic Jammu and ADC Jammu. The eighth bench was headed by Sudhir Khajuria, Mobile Magistrate, (Electricity) Jammu assisted by Manjeet Rai, Special Mobile Magistrate (P&T) Jammu. The ninth bench was comprised of Yahya Firdous Ahanger, Special Railway Magistrate, Jammu and the tenth bench was headed by Som Lal, Sub-Judge, Special Mobile Magistrate (13th Finance Commission) Jammu and assisted by Sh. Navdeep Singh, Retainer Lawyer. Lok Adalat Benches were also constituted at tehsil Headquarters at Bishnah, Akhnoor and R.S Pura, which were presided over by respective Chairman Tehsil legal Service Committees. Secretary District Legal Service Authority (Sub Registrar, Jammu) Ms. Swati Gupta was the Nodal Officer in the Lok Adalat. In the Lok Adalat, cases of civil nature, criminal compoundable, petty offences, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, consumer case, matrimonial cases, case under 138 NIA, revenue electricity, water, passenger tax and railway cases were taken up and settled in the Lok Adalat. A total number of 6841 cases were taken up, out of which 6564 cases have been decided. A total of Rs 37,93,77888 was settled in the Lok Adalat. Lok Adalat Benches were also constituted at tehsil Headquarters at Bishnah, Akhnoor and RS Pura, which were presided over by respective Chairman Tehsil Legal Service Committees. Secretary District Legal Service Authority (Sub Registrar, Jammu) Swati Gupta was the Nodal Officer in the Lok Adalat. Cases of Civil nature, Criminal compoundable, petty offences, Bank recovery cases, MACT cases, consumer cases, Matrimonial cases, cases under 138 NIA, Revenue, electricity, water, passenger tax and railway cases were taken up and settled in the Lok Adalat.
AKHNOOR: A National Lok Adalat was held in the Munsiff court complex here under the chairmanship of Pooja Raina, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Akhnoor. A bench was constituted, which comprised of Pooja Raina, Munsiff Akhnoor, Meetika Sharma and Anu Sharma, Advocates. A total of 50 cases were taken up, out of which 48 cases were disposed off. A fine of Rs 25300 has been realized on the spot.
BISHNAH: A National Lok Adalat was held in the court complex, here under the chairmanship of Girja Shavan, Munsiff. Among others present were SHO Bishnah Inspector PP Singh, PO, members of Bar Association and large number of people. In the Lok Adalat, criminal compoundable and civil cases were compromised by parties.
SAMBA: A National Lok Adalat was held in the district court complex here under the chairmanship of RK Wattal, Principal, District and Sessions Judge Samba. Two benches were constituted. The first bench comprised of RK Wattal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Samba and assisted by Vishal Sharma, Retainer Lawyer. The second bench comprised of Shabnam Sheikh, Munsiff Samba and assisted by Suniana Gupta, Retainer Lawyer. A total of 385 cases were taken up, out of which 353 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 56,28,776 was settled.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of SR Gandhi, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi organized National Lok Adalat. Three benches for settling the referred cases were constituted. First bench was presided over by SR Gandhi, Principal District and Sessions Judge Reasi and he was assisted by Parveen Pandoh JMIC/Munsiff, Katra, the second bench was presided over by Sandeep Gandotra Sub-Judge Katra and he was assisted by Mohit Raina, Tehsildar Katra and the third bench was presided over by NS Jamwal, I/C JMIC/Munsiff, Reasi and he was assisted by Rajesh Attri, Tehsildar, Reasi. In National Lok Adalat, 473 cases of different nature were taken up and 239 were settled and settlement amount for Rs 29,996,00 was awarded.
RAJOURI: A National Lok Adalat was held in the district court complex under the chairmanship of Shahzaad Azeem, Principal, District and Sessions Judge Rajouri. Three benches were constituted. The first bench was headed by Shahzad Azeem, Principal, District and Sessions Judge and assisted by Rajinder Saproo, Additional District and Sessions Judge, the second bench was headed by Naushad Ahmed Khan, Special Mobile Magistrate Rajouri and assisted by District Mobile Judicial Magistrate Rajouri and the third bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri and assisted by Janaid Hussain Choudhary, Advocate. Similar benches were also constituted at tehsil level, which were headed by the Presiding Officers of the courts. A total of 1556 cases were taken up, out of which 1417 cases were disposed off. 20 MACT Cases were taken up, out of which 15 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 8699000 was awarded as compensation.
NOWSHERA: A National Lok Adalat was held in the court complex here under the chairmanship of Rajni Sharma, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee. Three benches were constituted. First bench comprised of Rajni Sharma, Sub Judge JMIC Nowshera, Rattan Singh, Supriya Sasan and Gourav Sharma, Advocates, the second bench comprised of Tarlok Singh, GK Dutta, Ashwani Sharma and Varun Gujral, Advocates and the third bench comprised of Ajit Singh, Jatinder Bakshi, Hardesh Kumar and Haq Nawaz Chowdhary, Advocates. A total of 100 cases were taken up, out of which 83 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 19,550 was realized as fine from the defaulters.
POONCH: A National Lok Adalat was held at district court complex here under the chairmanship of Zubair Ahamad Rana Chairman District Legal Service Authority Poonch, Principal District Session Judge Poonch. During the proceedings five benches were constituted for taking up cases of matrimonial act, land acquisition, criminal compoundable, electricity bills, bank recovery, etc. A total of 718 cases were taken up out of which 633 cases were disposed off and total amount of Rs 493000 was realised as bank recoveries while an amount of Rs 1480000 has been awarded in motor vehicle accident claims and total 10 cases were settled in this regard. For petty offences an amount of Rs 25,740 was realized. In addition to these, 650 pre litigation cases were taken up and disposed off by reconciliation settlement.
UDHAMPUR: A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of KS Parihar, Principal, District and Sessions Judge Udhampur. Four benches were constituted. The first bench comprised of KS Parihar, Principal, District and Sessions Judge udhampur and Sandeep Kour, Sub Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Udhampur, the second bench comprised of CL Bavouria, Additional District and Sessions Judge Udhampur and Junaid Imtiaz Mir, Munsiff/JMIC Udhampur, the third bench comprised of Anjum Ara, Sub Judge Ramnagar and Ramesh Singh, Tehsildar Ramnagar and the fourth bench comprised of Sumati Sharma, Munsiff Chenani. A total of 449 cases were taken up, out of which 319 cases were settled. An amount of Rs 18,08,000 in MACT cases and Rs 22,28,379 was realized in bank cases and Rs 99,500 was imposed as fine in criminal compoundable cases.
CHENANI: A National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Sumati Sharma in Munsiff court complex, here in which 9 criminal cases, one petition under section 488 CrPC were taken up and decided and fine of Rs 11,600 was realized. Two civil cases were also decided. 14 traffic challan were disposed off and a total fine of Rs 10,900 was realized on the spot.
RAMBAN: A National Lok Adalat was held today here at district court complex under the chairmanship of Principle and District Sessions Judge and Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Inder Singh. A total 975 cases were taken up, out of which 732 were disposed off including 17 bank recovery cases with Rs 6,30,000 award, 20 electricity cases with Rs 1,17,892 award, 25 water bills with Rs 85,200 award, 4 MACT cases with Rs 21,00,000 award, 41 criminal compoundable cases with Rs 14,00 award and 586 traffic challan with Rs 90,250 award. The Lok Adalat also settled 12 matrimonial cases and 7 civil cases. The cases were heard by benches comprising Special Mobile Magistrate Electricity, Sub Judge Batote Arvind Sharma, Munsiff JMIC Ramban, Geeta Kumari, Munsiff JMIC Banihal Fida Hussain, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Ramban Ajay Kumar, Munsiff JMIC Gool Surinder Kumar Thappa and Munsiff JMIC Ukhral Javed Rana.
DODA: National Lok Adalat was held by the District Legal Services Authority, Doda under the chairmanship of MK Sharma, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah. The Lok Adalats comprised of 6 benches in which various criminal compoundable matters, MACT cases, bank matters, cases under NI Act, matrimonial cases, civil cases, cases pertaining to public utilities, Labour disputes etc. pending before different courts at Bhaderwah, Doda, Gandoh and Thathri and also pre-litigation cases were taken up for amicable settlement. A total of 742 cases were taken up, out of which 528 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 12,63,728 was settled.
SRINAGAR: A Lok Adalat was conducted today in the premises of J&K High Court, Srinagar by High Court Legal Services Committee, as a part of National Lok Adalat. As many as 331 cases in which 238 pre-litigation Cases and 93 cases pending before the High Court wing were taken up for amicable settlement between the parties. Out of total 335 cases, around 18 cases were settled and amount of Rs 28, 86, 338 was awarded. Three benches were constituted for holding of the Lok Adalat. The benches were presided by 2nd Additional District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar Tahir Khurshid Raina, 3rd Additional District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary and 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge Srinagar Kamlesh Panditha. A National Lok Adalat regarding all types of cases was organized today under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Rasheed Ali Dar at District Court Complex Moominabad Srinagar. Six benches were constituted in which 732 cases were taken up and 428 cases were decided on spot through amicable settlement. An amount of Rs 13977632 was settled in all cases.
Anantnag: Three benches were constituted for holding a National Lok Adalat organized by the District Legal Service Authority, here. The Adalat, which was held under the supervision of Additional District and Sessions Judge Anantnag, Masrat Shaheen, took up 870 cases related to different issues for settlement. Some 703 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 3.05 lakh was awarded in one MACT case, Rs 2.10 lakh in two bank cases and Rs 1.25 lakh was realized as fine in electric and traffic challans
BANDIPORA: A National Lok Adalat comprising four benches took up as many as 899 cases of various natures and amicably settled 891 cases. A settlement amount of Rs 72.75 lakh was also awarded in the Lok Adalat.
BARAMULLA: A National Lok Adalat was organized in the premises of the District Court Complex with Principal District and Sessions Judge Rajesh Shekri in chair. The Lok Adalat included constitution of three benches presided by Principal District and Sessions Judge, Rajesh Shekri, Ist Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jeema Bashir, and Munsif Judical Magistrate Baramulla, Fayaz Ahmad Qureshi. Some 15,500 cases were taken up during which 14,387 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 47,00,000 was realized as settlement amount.
BUDGAM: Five benches were constituted in which a number of cases were taken up for settlement and a good number of cases were amicably settled, whereas in Srinagar, the District Legal Services Authority constituted a bench at Old Secretariat for settlement of disputes pending in the District Consumer Protection Forum. President District Consumer Protection Forum, Srinagar, Mohammad Ashraf Malik, presided over the bench. As many as 50 cases were taken up for settlement in the National Lok Adalat here and about 18 cases were settled. A sum of Rs 65.06 lakh was awarded as compensation in favour of the complainants.
