JAMMU, May 2: 34th MPL National Under-10 Chess Championship, organised by All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA), concluded with prize distribution at Kangra Fort Banquet Hall, Barnai, here today.
Charvi A of Karnataka and Vivaan Vishal Shah of Gujarat emerged Champions in girls and open section after 11 rounds respectively. Both the winners got a cash prize of Rs 70000 each which was fully sponsored by Government of India for World Asian and Commonwealth Chess Championship.
The event was supported by MPL Sports Foundation and Hob Space.
Aadya Ranganath of Karnataka and Hanya Shah of Gujarat took 2nd position in girl’s category, while Madhvendra Pratap Sharma of Madhya Prades and Ansh Nandan Nerukar of Maharashtra in open section got 2nd and 3rd position respectively and awarded with cash prizes of Rs50000 and Rs 35000 respectively. Total cash prizes of Rs five lakhs were distributed among top 15 in each category.
Mayor JMC Chander Mohan Gupta was chief guest on the occasion who distributed the prizes among the winners and appreciated the Association for world class arrangements made during the tournament.
Dr AS Bhatia HoD Bio Sciences GMC Jammu, Raj Kumar, Chief Prosecution Officer, Baldev Raj and Kuljeet Jamwal vice presidents AJKCA, Ajit Singh, Ranjeet Singh and Arvindu Districts Association members and Advocate Himani Kohli were present during the closing ceremony.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president AJKCA was chairman of the organizing committee, wherein Dr Vipnesh Bhardwaj International Arbiter from Chandigarh is chief arbiter of the event along with 10 other arbiters including deputy chief arbiter Salim Beig from Karnataka besides local arbiters from J&K.
