34 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, Apr 12: Police foiled two bovine smuggling attempts under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station and rescued 34 bovines.
Police team, while performing naka checking duty at Jakhani, intercepted a truck (JK02CD-7887) carrying 30 bovines in a cruel manner without valid permission.
Accused driver, namely Sarfaraz, son of Ghulam Nabi of Sidra, Jammu, was arrested and the vehicle was also seized . In this regard, a case FIR No. 136/2026 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Udhampur.
Another vehicle (JK02DN-7695) carrying four bovines without valid permission, was also intercepted by Udhampur Police. However, driver managed to flee taking advantage of heavy traffic after abandoning vehicle on the road.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 138/2026 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Udhampur.
