JAMMU, Apr 19: Thirty vehicles were challaned for over-speed on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, here today.
According to SSP Traffic Jammu City Shiv Kumar Sharma, a special drive was launched against over-speeding vehicles at Sidhra-Nagrota stretch on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The drive was launched under the supervision of Additional SP Traffic Jammu Pardeep Singh Gauria, SSP said, adding that during the drive, 30 vehicles were challaned.
During the drive, Additional SP Traffic Jammu used speed radar gun to identify the violators.
“J&K roads are regarded as one of the most dangerous roads. With a high number of accidents on the roads due to various reasons like lack of lane discipline to unknown obstacles like stray animals on the roads. Over speeding is also one of the main reasons behind the accidents with vehicles at high speed are more susceptible to accidents due to the road conditions of the JKUT”, SSP informed.
To avoid such incidents, traffic police is working tirelessly round the clock, SSP said and appealed to the people to be cautious while driving and follow traffic rules.
