SAMBA, May 5: About 30 metres of Service Road along Jammu -Patnankot National Highway in front of Chechi Mata Temple, Samba got eroded in Basantar river along with protection wall this evening. However, no loss of any kind was reported as during the time of mishap no vehicle was plying on the road.
Soon after the erosion of service road the officials of police and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) rushed to the spot to take the stock of the situation. However the traffic on the National Highway was not disrupted and it plied normally.
Rajiv Kumar, Director Projects NHAI said that the Department was constructing some structure there and had made deep digging due to the flood during night the land along the service road became muddy and later eroded.
He said he is visiting the area to take the stock of situation and restoration work will be started soon.
Soon after the incident the Traffic Police diverted the vehicular traffic from other side and service road has been totally closed.
