A police contingent headed by SDPO Jammu East, Sheezan Bhat, was also deployed at the site to ensure law and order.
During the operation, two cemented structures, several boundary walls, and multiple plinths raised illegally on the State land were demolished. Officials said the action was taken after reports of encroachments came to light, adding that the retrieved land has significant commercial and residential value due to its prime location in the rapidly developing Chowadi area.
The entire exercise was completed smoothly without any resistance from the encroachers or local residents. Authorities maintained that strict vigil is being kept on State land to prevent further encroachments and ensure that Government property is safeguarded.
Speaking about the drive, officials reiterated the administration’s commitment to reclaiming illegally occupied land across the district. They also appealed to the public not to indulge in unlawful possession of Government property, warning that such structures will be removed without hesitation.
