30 bovines rescued

JAMMU, Mar 30: Jammu (Rural) Police foiled a major bovine smuggling attempt in the Jhajjarkotli area and rescued 30 bovine animals.
A police team from Police Station Jhajjarkotli, during routine checking and patrolling, intercepted a Tata truck (JK02CT-8355) at Jhajjarkotli. Upon inspection, 30 bovines were found being transported illegally in violation of legal provisions.
The driver, however, managed to flee from the spot on noticing the police presence. The vehicle was seized, and all the animals were rescued safely.
Police have registered a case under FIR Number 40/2026 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at Police Station Jhajjarkotli.
Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
