30 animals die in lightening

RAJOURI, Mar 4: At least 30 domestic animals were killed after being struck by lightening in Kalakote area of Rajouri district on Monday late night.
Reports said that the incident occurred amidst rain and thunderstorm, which lashed the region. The lightning hit a herd of goats, resulting in the immediate death of 30 animals. The livestock belonged to Mohd. Sadiq, son of Nazir Hussain, a resident of Jata Maliya, Panchayat Soom, Ward No. 6, Kalakote.
Upon receiving information, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kalakote, Dr Tanveer Khan and SDPO Kalakote Surinder Mohan reached the spot and assured the affected family of financial assistance. ADC stated that compensation would be provided at the earliest, including relief from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
He also directed the concerned officials to complete the necessary paperwork promptly to ensure swift disbursement of financial assistance to the affected nomad family, as livestock forms important part of their livelihood.
